End of a Great Season
by posted 08/06/2020

Rays:

Wow!!  Was anyone else wired and up until midnight last night??  Haha!  I am so stinking happy for these boys having their efforts pay off with such a great win.  We gave this Bronco Tourney everything we had, and like I told the boys, we were literally 1 minute away from playing for the Championship. Now, having said that, I don't want to change ANYTHING right now!  It sure as heck FELT like we won the Championship last night, and I'm willing to bet we had more fun than any team at the park...but I'm also biased.  :o)

I have heard from everyone, and except for the 2 Rays who are out of town (we're gonna miss you Dax & Asher!), all Rays are expected at the party this weekend...YES!  I guarantee you we will have fun.

Date:  Saturday, August 8

Time:  1:30pm - 4:30pm

Place:  Coach Booth's, 1717 Deerfield Drive, Morton

What to Bring:  Rays Jersey (I need to turn these in so please bring with you...clean or dirty, I don't care...haha!)

Parents:  Please feel free to come back early to pick up your ballplayer and visit for the last hour or so.  And if anyone needs a ride, just let me know.

I have received several thank you's for coaching and spending time with these boys this summer.  I want to say THANK YOU.  I know I am demanding of players AND parents (LOL!), but I want you to know it all helps. Everything from responses, to conflict communication, to obtaining treat tickets and getting them to me, getting kids to practice on time....it all matters, for real.  Thank you.

This task is impossible without assistant coaches, and I always surround myself with good ones.  Tim and Jason...thank you, as always.  Jesse and Gary...you guys are awesome also...thank you for all of your help!  If you've ever tried to Coach and keep book at the same time, you know why I appreciate these 2 so much!

Finally, to the Rays:  I'm so proud of you guys, and can't wait to celebrate this weekend!  Since you are all now officially experienced Rays, I'm hopeful when we run into each other at Kroger, the Pumpkin Festival, or God-forbid, as opponents sometime in the future (:-O), you come say hello to Coach Booth.  Maybe even some knuckles, if it's socially acceptable.  Because in my mind, you guys are now Rays, forever.  Great job, young men.

Go Rays!!

5:30pm game, Field 1
by posted 08/04/2020

Rays:

Another fantastic team effort last night...this team is fun to coach, even if I feel like my hair is on fire at times...hahahahaha!!  Please arrive at 4:45pm tonight at the batting cages.  We will be visitors again, 1st base dugout.  If we lose, we play again immediately after, same field, same dugout.  If we win, we don't play until tomorrow.  Tomorrow we will play at 5:30pm regardless of what happens today, but we'll get to that later.

I've had great responses to the party this weekend, but missing a couple I believe.  If I ever stop making out lineups for 5 minutes I'll get a tally (Lol), but looking forward to it!  If we keep this up, we're REALLY gonna have something to celebrate...  :o)

Tournament Time!
by posted 08/02/2020

Rays:

We have 2 games tomorrow for sure at 5:30 and 7:30pm.  If we lose both, we are done.  If we win at least one, we're playing at least one game Tuesday and one game Wednesday...potentially 2 games each of those days also, but let's worry about tomorrow first.

We are on Field 6, home team (3rd base dugout).  Please try to arrive by 4:45pm.  I know it's going to be a long night, but let's finish strong.  We'll do treats between games instead of after the late game, and I already have tickets (thank you Mrs. Johnson!).

Next Saturday, August 8th from 1:30 - 4:30pm, we're going to celebrate a fun baseball season at Coach Booth's house. There's going to be the "Rolling Video Games" trailer present from 2-4pm.  This thing is ridiculously awesome for 12-13 year old boys who even remotely enjoy video games of any sort.  Long story, but there is no cost...just fun to be had.  We also have a basketball court, trampoline...all sorts of mischief for these Rays to get into...haha!  I've heard from a few of you, but please let me know if your ballplayer can or can't make it.  I'll probably order a couple of pizzas, and just need a head count.  No problem if you have plans...I completely get it!

See you tomorrow evening at 4:45pm.

Go Rays!!

2 games Monday??
by posted 07/30/2020

Rays:

Nice win last night!  You probably already saw that they cancelled our game for tonight, and we start tournament play Monday at 5:30pm.  What you may not have seen is that if we win, I'm pretty sure we play again at 7:30pm.  And presumably we will have at least one, and possibly 2, games on Tuesday as well.  Please let me know asap if you will be unavailable next Monday thru Wednesday.  I will keep you posted the best I can as I am just reading between the lines here for most of this right now.

Saturday, August 8th is the Rays party at Coach Booth's house (1717 Deerfield Dr., Morton).  I have a really neat deal lined up for the ballplayers that includes lots of video games...I hope everyone can make it!.  Let's say 1:30 - 4:30pm, August 8th.  And if you show up a little early, we'll just call that Coach Booth time.  :o)  Let me know either way by Monday, if possible, so that I can plan appropriately.

Keep your eyes open for a last second workout Sunday afternoon/evening somewhere, but no worries if you can't make it!

Go Rays!!

Games today and tomorrow
by posted 07/29/2020

Rays:

Games today and tomorrow are both on Field 1, and both start at 5:30pm.  I like the 4:45pm arrival time, if possible, so we can get a good warm-up in.  Tonight we are visitors (first base dugout), tomorrow we are home team (3rd base dugout).  No news about game times for the tournament next week until Friday at the earliest, but we will be playing Monday at least once.

Mark/look at your calendars for Saturday, August 8th.  I'm planning to host a Rays end-of-the-year party that afternoon (approx 1-4:30pm).  I totally understand if you have other plans or can't make it...just let me know, and more details to follow.

Alright, we're going to go see if we can get in the win column tonight.

Go Rays!!
